A week off work!!

Today, as for the rest of the week, I have a day off. I took a week off as MLOs mother is also away, and it gives us a chance to have a little space, and time together without having to pay to go away anywhere. I don't think I, or MLOs mother could have chosen a better week to go away. Th weather is still spectacularly gorgeous. It must be at least 25 degrees out there right now. I have been tidying up around the path edges today, the grass has a very annoying habit of growing over the edge of the path and need cutting away every so often. Very satisfying cutting along and pulling great long strips of turf away off the path it is. Only problem was the ants, hundreds of them, I think I uncovered at least 5 separate nests of them. Mostly black, but also a couple of red ones too. All done now and the paths have a nice straight edge again.

As I am sat in the study typing and also looking outside, there are birds everywhere out there. A little thrush is busy with the snails again, and a couple of blue tits are chasing round hedge and trees. Lovely. Thrush has found another snail already, and is busy bashing it to pieces on the bricks of the drive.

I rang up the office yesterday to leave my name and address for the vicar, as he had asked, but the office was closed then. So I rang up again today earlier this time, and got through to a Scottish lady, who took my details. Things are moving on. Maybe only a little way, but forward nonetheless.

Anyway, am off to start getting dinner prepared, may blog later on. If not TTFN.

Another day outside

Not sure what happened yesterday, I fully intended to post, but I failed. No excuse is there really.
It was quite an uneventful day too. But then I never seem to have anything that interesting or newsworthy happen these days, so have to content myself with the humdrum events of everyday life as it is at present.
Got up at the usual time. Had my usual breakfast and left for work at the usual time. I got there as usual, and did all the things that I usually do. Had my lunch as usual, and finished at the usual time. Then got home. That was my day. Absolutely nothing happened. No-one exciting came in, no interesting or funny (as in ha ha) phone calls. The weather did what it did without being particularly exciting or extreme. All in all , a nothing of a day.
Today has been slightly more interesting, in that I didn't have to go to work. When I got up, I said my prayers (as I usually do when I get up, not for any special reason), then went downstairs. MLO and his mother were in the garden already, washing pots off. (I didn't get up late, they were just early, honest guvnor). I had a coffee and went out to join them, moved a few things around, potted a few things up, and then took a few photographs as evidence that the garden can look good sometimes. (Give it a couple of months and it will look a mess again, I guarantee).
After doing a few jobs, I decided to have an early lunch, so had some spinach and ricotta tortellini, with a little bit of smoked salmon. That was exceedingly yummy. Had another coffee, and went back outside.

In the back garden, is an old bench that had been painted a few years ago, but was in desperate need of a little TLC. So I got out my sander, and dremel, and stripped it bare. It looks gorgeous now, and I am seriously wondering whether I should repaint it or just seal it with something clear. I also used one of the attachments on the dremel to sharpen all our garden shears and loppers, they look pretty mean now, plus do a marvelous job of cutting again.
I am currently sat in the study, looking out to the evening sky, the moon looks nice and bright tonight.
Will be going shopping shortly, to get our supplies for the next few days at least. I feel in need of some seriously carnivorous grub tonight, so I think a nice lamb chop or a thick steak are in order. Will see what looks the best when we get to the shop in Hereford.
Anyway, am just about to have another coffee, get changed then go out.If anything particularly mind blowing happens, I will report back tonight, otherwise, I will report back tomorrow as usual. So ttfn, au revoir and goodnight.

Day in the garden

Have had a thoroughly wonderful day working in the garden today. The sun has been shining and was gloriously warm. The birds were singing their hearts out too. Finally got round to digging the edges for all the borders in the garden, so lots of beautifully rounded and straight edges everywhere. Nice to see a few inches of bare earth in front of the plants too. Wont be there for long though when they get growing in the next few weeks. Amazed at how overgrown the borders seem to get each year.
Managed to get a lovely set of blisters across my palms, and wondering whether I should leave them alone or burst them, perhaps I should leave them alone.
Well today I have been completely and utterly happy all day long, full of the joys of spring I suppose you could say. Have been in love with everything today oh God is great, just thought I would let you know. Am in a completely optimistic mood today, compared with yesterday, when everything was a bit doom and gloom. I was convinced I would be rejected at every turn, yet today, whatever God has in store, is fine, wonderful, marvelous and great. Have been grinning like a loon most of the day.
Listening to Classic FM and the top 10 currently at number four, with Beethoven. Definitely not one of my favourite composers. Waiting to see if number 3 is an improvement.
I managed to miss the moto gp, so not entirely happy about that. Especially when I found out that Stoner had won, and Rossi "Vale Vale Vale", sorry chant over, had only come second. I really dont like Stoner, he needs to lighten up a touch.
Have decided, I will absolutely, no messing have a word with the Vicar either this coming Sunday, or if I cant corner him there, I will phone up his office. So there. Thats telling you. I wonder how many of the Easter crowd will be in Church this time round, be great if they all turn up, but I doubt it.
Classic FM update. Number 3 is far better, one I love, just cant think of the name of it now. My mind has gone blank. Buggrit. Will think of it in a minute.
Had some lovely fresh macaroni cheese for lunch (homemade of course). Always goes down a treat. For tea, had a beef and mustard sandwich with some of the beef that was left over from lunch yesterday, promptly followed by a lovely cup of coffee. Delicious. Ooh, I forgot, had some homemade sherry trifle that was left from yesterday too, equally delicious.
Have just realised, I dont have any clean clothes for work in the morning, I got completely carried away in the garden and forgot about washing clothes. Buggrit for the second time.
Ah Vaughan Williams, and Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis. That was it. Number two is Rachmaninov and piano concerto no2 in C minor. Another utterly beautiful piece of music. All thats left to find out is who or what is number 1. Place your bets now.
Vaughan Williams, The lark ascending was number 1 again. Totally agree. Beautiful.
Oh well thats enough for today, all is good in the world, have just had evening prayer, a bit late really, but I feel better and calmer, so good there will say night prayer when I go to bed, whatever time that will be.
Farewell for today.
